SOS Suite Release 2010.01
07/05/2012

You can use this installer for a new SOS installation or to upgrade an existing SOS installation of Release 2007.01 or later.

For a list of the changes, fixes, and additions in SOS Release 20010.01, please see the readme document:

As with all software updates, the safest way to start is by doing a backup of your current installation (necessary only on standalone and server systems). In this case, that would mean doing a quick copy of your SOS folder and all folders and files within it. Assuming that you have the space available on your hard disk, this can be accomplished with two clicks:

1. Open My Computer.
2. Locate the SOS folder (usually on the C: drive).
3. RIGHT-click on the SOS folder.
4. Select COPY on the popup menu.
5. RIGHT-click on an empty area of the same window (NOT on any of the folders!).
6. Select PASTE on the popup menu to create the copy. The new folder will be called "Copy of SOS". Once you have completed the update and have confirmed that all is well, you can delete "Copy of SOS" if you wish.

Once you have done your backup,
using the link at the bottom of this page download the installer to a convenient location, such as your Windows desktop.

If you are upgrading, before installing the software, make sure that you have exited all SOS applications. If updating SOS on a network server, leave the database running, but no other SOS applications should be open. In addition, SOS recommends that you temporarily disable your anti-virus software during the installation.

Upgraders, please note that this installation involves the removal of older versions of the SOS-provided Crystal Reports components, which can be rather time-consuming. For this reason, even on network workstations the complete installation can take up to a half-hour or so. On standalone installations and network servers, the process will take even longer because of the database upgrade. Please plan in advance and leave ample time to complete the procedure.

Network Installations: You should install on the database server first. Once that step is complete, proceed with installation on all workstations. Also, if installing on a network, be sure to leave the database running. Do NOT shut down the database before doing the installs. Wait until the database update is complete before doing the other workstations! You can do more than one workstation simultaneously, after the server install is complete.

SOS suggests that you download and review the detailed installation instructions before starting. You will find that document at:

If upgrading from  SOS 2007 through SOS 2009, please review the upgrade notes before proceeding!
