#714 Using the Windows Clipboard from within SOS Products
If you are running Office Manager or Case Manager from within
Windows, it is possible to use the Windows clipboard to move
information into other Windows products. Since the Windows utility
for marking and copying information to the clipboard limits you to
what is actually on the screen at any one time and does not allow
scrolling to extend the block of information marked, you will have
to use this method for one screen of information at a time.
The procedure is as follows:
Open both Office Manager or Case Manager and the Windows application
to which you want to copy information. Using b^,
switch to Office Manager or Case Manager.
Press ae to get Office Manager or Case Manager
from full-screen into a window. Click on the farthest upper right
hand arrow to maximize the size of the box. Get the information you
want to copy into the clipboard onto the screen.
Click on the control mark ( _ ) in the upper left corner
of the screen. Then click on Edit and Mark.
Press jx to turn the cursor into a highlight
extender. Holding the j key down, press the x
key to extend to the right and the y key to
extend the highlight down. Mark as much text as you want to copy to
the clipboard (up to one screen's worth of text).
Click again on the control mark ( _ ) in the upper left
corner of the screen. Then click on Edit and Copy.
Press b^ to switch to the task list. Choose
the Windows application into which you want to copy the text. Put
the cursor where you want to place the copied text. Press bV
to paste the text where you want it.
Press b^ to switch to the task list; return to
Case Manager or Office Manager and scroll the text so the next thing
you want to copy is on the screen. Repeat the process from steps 3
on, until you have copied all the text you need. This is a cumbersome
way to move a long report from Case Manager into your word
processing program. The easier way is to go to the Reports menu,
select the report you want to move and print the report to a WP
file. Use the same .ext that your word processing program uses. Then
import the ASCII file into your word processor. Now you can format
the report as you like!
