TOPIC..: Error 33, Record Not Available
REVISED: 03/01/95
SUMMARY ----------------------------------------------------------------
Error 33's are rare. They can signify a problem with your computer's
current status, a corrupted key file, or even a bug in the software.
CORRECTION -------------------------------------------------------------
The first thing to try is just exiting the program, returning to the
system prompt and rebooting your computer by pressing <CTRL>, <ALT>, and
<DEL> at the same time.
If that doesn't work and the error indicates a particular file, you can
try to rebuild the keys for that file. Assuming that the program still
runs, select the "rebuild data files" option on the UTILITIES menu.
Respond "Y" for the group containing the damaged file, and "N" to the
other file groups.
If you can't determine a specific file, you can do the above, but
indicate "Y" for all file groups.
If all of these steps fail, write down the exact error (or press the
<PrintScreen> key when the error is on the screen) and call for technical
assistance. It would be helpful if you could fax the above information
prior to your call.
ALTERNATIVE METHOD -----------------------------------------------------
From your system prompt, you can use the FIX utility. Make sure you are
in the correct directory of your hard disk. Next, just type FIX
followed by the name of the file causing the problem, for example:
PROBLEM FILE COMMAND (followed by <ENTER>)
-------------------- -------------------------------------
DAYSHEET.DAT FIX DAYSHEET
PTINF.DAT FIX PTINF
JOURNAL.DAT FIX JOURNAL
TXHDR.DAT FIX TXHDR
You can rebuild the keys for all files from the command line by typing:
SORTOM and press <ENTER> (for OM)
You can rebuild both data files and keys for all files from the command
line by typing:
FIXOM and press <ENTER> (for OM)
FIXCM and press <ENTER> (for CM)
