SOS Company Profile

Synergistic Office Solutions, Inc. incorporated in 1985. Originally the company sold computer hardware and commercial software, did custom software development, provided consulting services, and developed and marketed Mental Health Office Manager, a patient billing and receivables product. In 1989, a strategic decision was made to phase out all activities other than development and marketing of our own commercial software and products related directly to it. Since 1988 staff has grown from one part time person to ten employees.

SOS Office Manager is a billing and receivables software package designed to meet the needs of a variety of health care organizations and practitioners. Originally the product was aimed specifically at psychologists and other mental health professionals, but it is now used in a wide variety of health service settings including residential treatment programs, clinics, large group practices, solo practices, medical offices, rehabilitation practices, chemical dependency units, and behavioral health community programs.

Since initial marketing of the first release of the software in 1986 to psychologists in Florida, the system has been completely rewritten twice, and in 1999 was released in a 32-bit Windows client/server version. SOS Office Manager is now used to manage the receivables of well over 2000 practices and organizations, distributed across the United States.

The current product line consists of standalone and network versions of the billing software (SOS Office Manager), an optional integrated scheduler, a complete clinical record-keeping program for mental health practices (SOS Case Manager), electronic claims modules, custom reports, a variety of specialized insurance and custom statement formats, and statement forms.

Most product is sold directly by SOS, though a small but significant number of sales are mediated by consultants and other computer industry resellers around the country.

Future plans include adapting our current products to the changing needs of the health care industry while keeping apace of technological advances.
