Update/Patches for SOS Suite
Release 2015.01 Build 4
11/03/2015

* These update installers will work only if you have already installed SOS 2010, SOS 2013, SOS 2014 or SOS 2015 on your system and your support is current! *

For a list of the changes, fixes, and additions in SOS Release 2015.01, please see the readme document.

The following patch files are cumulative and contain all modifications to the SOS modules since the initial release of 2010.01. The patch installer will check to be sure that you have a previous copy of SOS 2010.01 (or later) on your system before continuing. In addition, it will check your licensing information to see if you had a valid support contract on the date of the first distribution of this release. If either of these checks should fail, the patch will not be installed.

As with all software updates, the safest way to start is by doing a backup of your current installation (necessary only on standalone and server systems). In this case, that would mean doing a quick copy of your SOS folder and all folders and files within it. Assuming that you have the space available on your hard disk, this can be accomplished with two clicks:

1. Open My Computer.
2. Locate the SOS folder (usually on the C: drive).
3. RIGHT-click on the SOS folder.
4. Select COPY on the popup menu.
5. RIGHT-click on an empty area of the same window (NOT on any of the folders!).
6. Select PASTE on the popup menu to create the copy. The new folder will be called "Copy of SOS". Once you have completed the update and have confirmed that all is well, you can delete "Copy of SOS" if you wish.

Once you have done your backup, download the desired patch installer(s) to a convenient location, such as your Windows desktop, then locate and double-click to run it.

Tip: Less experienced users may find it easier to click "Run" rather than "Save" after clicking on the link below, if your web browser provides a "Run" option. Doing so will download the patch to a temporary location on your system, run the patch installer, then delete the patch program automatically. One click does the whole thing. The only downside is that you won't be saving a copy of the patch installer on your system, so if you have to re-install it, you will have to do the process again, including the download. Depending on the speed of your internet connection and the size of the patch, that can be time-consuming.

Links for the various patch installers can be found at the bottom of this page. If a patch is available, the date of the patch will appear in the table below.

After downloading the file to a convenient location, your web browser may then offer you to "OPEN" the file. Either do that, or close the window and manually locate the patch installer you just downloaded and double-click to start it up. Remember: Simply downloading the patch file does not install it! After downloading, you must OPEN or RUN it in order to install the updated program components on your system.

Before installing the patch, make sure that you have exited all SOS applications. If installing on a network server, leave the database running, but no other SOS applications should be open. The installation process is just a couple of clicks and only takes a minute or so, once you have the file downloaded. On standalone systems and on network database servers, a window will appear after the files have been copied. Click "Continue" to refresh the database structures, a process that can take a few minutes. This window will not appear on network workstations .

Network Installations: You should apply the patch to the database server and all workstations if running on a network. Also, if installing on a network, be sure to leave the database running. Do NOT take down the database before doing the installs. Do the server first, clicking CONTINUE after the new files are copied. Wait until the database update is complete before doing the other workstations! That part can take a little while to complete. Once the server if finished, apply the patch to all the workstations, clicking CANCEL when you get to the database update step. You can do more than one workstation simultaneously.

Troubleshooting: The two most common issues that appear while and immediately after updating are:
